A Monochrome and Stylish Scandinavian Studio Apartment

This studio apartment in the Södermalm area of Stockholm reminds me of the homes I published in the first years of my blogging career. The light wooden floorboards, combined with a monochrome white, gray, and black color scheme, were very popular a couple of years ago and have become the palette most people associate with Scandinavian style.

Nowadays, you don’t often see houses or apartments decorated in this style, but this renovated studio apartment is designed in the typical Scandi style. The 27 square meter studio apartment was recently renovated and features a smart layout, making the small home feel much larger.

The main room is of decent size and has been divided into zones thanks to the curtains surrounding the bed. Therefore, a small dining area has been created in front of the window, while the other side is used as a lounge area.

The wooden table and chairs are painted in a light blue-gray shade.

A cozy sitting area has been created on the other side of the apartment, featuring a white IKEA sofa, a vintage white cabinet, and a large round mirror that reflects light through the space.

The biggest design issue in a studio apartment is the desire to create a separate sleeping area. In this studio, they used a simple solution by adding curtains on two sides, creating a private sleeping area that can be hidden from view when you have guests.

A simple side table with a marble top adds a classic style to the sleeping area, while the black mirror with a small shelf adds more storage space.

The original wooden floor from the 1920s adds character to the studio.

The studio is decorated with photographs from the Fotografiska Museum in Stockholm. If you ever find yourself in Stockholm, you should definitely see this museum; it has new exhibitions every couple of months, and posters from exhibitions (previous and current ones) can be bought in the gift shop.

From the hall, a wide opening leads you to the tiny but practical kitchen.

The kitchenette is very small but practical and stylish. Simple white cabinets are paired with classic white subway tiles, open and closed cabinets that run to the ceiling, and a wooden storage shelf that can also serve as extra counter space.

The walls are also fitted with hanging racks and shelves for extra storage space.

The tiny bathroom was recently renovated in a classic style, with white textured tiles on the walls and a classic Victorian black-and-white floor.

The sink and shower features classic fittings, matching the 1920s building style of the studio apartment.
