A Muted Color Palette and Smart Storage in a Small Stockholm Apartment
On the top floor of a turn-of-the-century apartment building in Södermalm, Stockholm lies this charming one-bedroom apartment. The apartment is only 41 square meter apartment, but it makes the most of its available space with smart storage solutions.
The entire apartment, including the walls, joinery, and ceiling, has been repainted in recent years, adding a sober palette of light grayish walls and green joinery. Even though the apartment is small, it has nice high ceilings and large windows that flood the spaces with light, making it feel more spacious.

Original features like the fireplace, wooden floorboards, high plinths, and ceiling rosettes add a lovely historical touch to the apartment.

The living room is a charming space with two large windows with deep niches. The walls are painted in a warm beige-gray color (Froströk by Jotun), and the joinery is painted in a light and muted green (Treasure by Jotun). This color palette continues throughout the apartment for a consistent palette.

In the corner of the room stands an original working fireplace, which creates a cozy ambiance to the living room. Bright yellow textiles add a nice color pop compared to the muted tones.

The door on the right leads to a small built-in cabinet.

One wall is fitted with an Elva shelving system that even runs above the doorframe to maximize storage space.

The bedroom is tiny but smartly designed. It has room for a double (160cm) bed, and the wall is fitted with built-in wardrobes and shelves.

Two asymmetrically arranged windows have been fitted in the wall between the bedroom and the kitchen, ensuring the latter gets natural light.

From the hall, a wide opening with skylights leads into a charming and efficient kitchen.

Walls, angles, and nooks have been maximized from floor to ceiling with cabinets, drawers, benches, and shelves.

The bathroom is tiny but functional. The walls are tiled with white and black tiles, and the ceiling is painted in a warm reddish-brown color.
