Pastel Tones and Deep Yellow in an Early 20th-Century London Apartment
This three-bedroom apartment lies on the third floor of a handsome apartment building in Hackney, London, that was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The apartment was carefully renovated by its current owners, adding oak parquet flooring in combination with a carefully selected color palette of pale blues, calamine pinks, and deep yellows.
The apartment has a unique layout with all the rooms in a row. The three bedrooms are flanked by a living room with windows facing in two directions on one side, and the kitchen and dining room at the other end, opening to a cozy balcony.

The living room is a bright space with three large sash windows overlooking the trees of the communal garden.

The living room is painted in a pale blue shade, paired with a bright orange sofa and a pastel-colored rug.

Built-in cabinetry on one side of the room houses the television and provides storage space.

On the other side of the apartment lies the bold-colored kitchen with walls painted in ‘Gamboge’ by Paint and Paper Library paired with the ‘Drakensberg’ gray British Standard kitchen cabinets.

The U-shaped kitchen is designed by Anniken Shwartz of Plain English and features fossil stone work surfaces, custom fitted by Euromarble Stone merchants atop the gray cabinets.
The kitchen also features a deep butler sink from Kohler and Rudge and Co brass fixtures, as well as a four-ring blue Lacanche range cooker paired with decorative tiles from Balenium.

The large windows are fitted with cafe curtains to add a sense of privacy while also letting in plenty of natural light.

The kitchen opens to a small balcony decorated with a small bistro set and potted plants.

Three bedrooms are placed between the living room and the kitchen. All three rooms feature a soft pink color palette and large windows with shutters.

In the nursery, the pale pink walls are paired with a pastel green ceiling.

The spacious bathroom is located at the end of the hall next to the kitchen. The room is decorated with the ‘Belton Scenic Pavilion’ wallpaper from Little Greene.
There is a rolltop bath and a walk-in shower with Burlington fittings on one side and a ceramic washstand on the other. The soft tonal tiles are from Balenium and Marlborough.

The apartment is listed for £800.000 at Inigo.
