A Renovated 1940s Apartment with Colorful Bedrooms
High up on a hill surrounded by tree tops and a view of a ski slope in Stockholm lies this charming midcentury apartment with two bedrooms. The 60 square meter apartment has windows in three directions and a functional floor plan, creating airy and inviting interior spaces.
The current owner has carefully renovated the apartment, adding a new kitchen and preserving original features from the 1940s while also adapting it to modern needs. The result is a warm and inviting Scandinavian home with colorful bedrooms.

The living room is located in a corner position, offering windows in two directions and access to a balcony. The high location of the apartment offers unobstructed views from the windows, creating a wonderful sense of privacy and space.
The living room features the original herringbone parquet floor. It is a testament to great quality that this floor has been maintained in such a good condition for 80 years.
The living room has space for a comfortable seating area and a dining table. The apartment has a social layout with a semi-open connection with the kitchen.
The kitchen is a wonderful new addition to the midcentury home. It was designed by the interior architects at Studio Demos and renovated in 2021, with Ikea frames and custom-made fronts in brushed oak veneer.
The oak cabinets are topped with a practical stainless steel countertop by the sink and stylish terrazzo (HT-Simone from Herrljunga) for other surfaces. It is paired with vertical subway tiles in Colonial White from Byggfabriken.
The walls are painted in Gotland 3 from Alcro, a soft pale green shade that adds a calm touch to the space.
Marble-inspired ceramic tiles lie underfoot, which seamlessly continue into the hallway.
A small bar table sits between the kitchen and the living room. Perfect for a morning cup of coffee.
The master bedroom is painted in ‘Old Rose’ by Alcro, including the radiators and the built-in wardrobes for a harmonious look. It is paired with a classic oak herringbone parquet floor.
Original built-in wardrobes provide plenty of storage space.
The second bedroom is turned into a charming, colorful children’s bedroom with walls painted in ‘Lin’ from Alcro. It is a subtle gray-toned pink that adds a calm atmosphere to the room.
The bathroom was renovated in 2024, pairing light beige tiles (Hueso from Kakelspecialisten) with handmade concrete slabs in Marrakech design.
The room also features a custom-designed bathroom vanity with rounded wooden doors.
