A Renovated Georgian Townhouse with a Stunning Kitchen Extension

A Georgian townhouse in the English town of Leicester has been completely renovated by its current owners, pairing historical details with contemporary additions. The owners created a more logical floor plan for the house, which is still largely as it was when the house was built.

The townhouse has a beautiful open-plan social living space with sitting and dining areas. In the back, the house has been extended for a beautiful kitchen space with Crittall-style windows and a high slanted ceiling.

You enter the house on the upper ground floor, where a series of reception spaces welcome you into the beautiful home. The large, original sash windows have been replaced with custom-made, heritage-approved sash windows throughout to retain that historic look.

The living room is centered around a fireplace with a wood burner, and the walls are painted in ‘Inchyra Blue’ by Farrow & Ball.

A double-wide doorway gives access to the dining room. Both rooms have painted floorboards to create a harmonious look in the living spaces. The dining room is a stylish space with dado rails and cornicing.

Through a pair of glass sliding doors, you enter the best room in the house. The extended kitchen was created by the current owners, featuring a high slanted ceiling, tall Crittall-style windows from Met Therm, and roof lights that draw in plenty of natural light.

The subtly textured band-sawn beech cupboards from Sebastian Cox for deVOL Kitchens are paired with Carrara marble countertops. The kitchen island is also a breakfast bar, and open cabinets provide storage for cookbooks.
