A Renovated Stockholm Apartment with Subtle Color Details
This one-bedroom apartment is located in a classic 1920s apartment building in Stockholm. It has been carefully renovated to create a blend of modern design and original features. During the renovation, a new kitchen and bathroom were added, and a color palette of light and neutral tones were used to create light and modern spaces.
The apartment has a social floorplan with a kitchen in the center, the living room on one end, and the bedroom on the other side. The classic features of the twenties are constantly present in preserved original details, such as slatted windows, deep niches, stylish mirrored doors, and a solid wooden floor, but overall, the apartment feels modern and fresh.
The living room is decorated in a light palette of soft beige walls painted in ‘Coconut’ by Jotun and a parquet floor laid in a herringbone pattern. These neutral tones are paired with vibrant color accents in the yellow and light blue cushions and decorative items.
The living room and kitchen are separated by beautiful slatted double doors, which can be left open to create a social space.
The new kitchen is located centrally in the home, with stylish oak veneer cabinets on either side topped with granite ceramic from Bricmate.
The bedroom has a calming vibe thanks to the light walls painted with chalk paint and a floor of white-glazed pine slats.
The bedroom is narrow, but long, so there is enough room for a double bed and a home office with a midcentury desk and built-in shelves.
The bedroom also gives access to a sunny balcony overlooking the courtyard.
The renovated bathroom has a luxurious feel thanks to the Norrvange Ivory tile from Brickmate, a chest of drawers in oak from Haven, and a custom-made sink in beige concrete from Betongdesign.
The hallway is painted the calming shade ‘Dusty Blue’ from Jotun.
