A Romantic Bedroom & Period Details in a Stockholm Apartment
In a quiet and picturesque area close to the center of Stockholm stands an early 20th-century apartment building, designed in Sweden’s ‘National Romantic’ style. On the second floor of this building lies this charming one-bedroom apartment with soft, light-colored interiors.
The apartment has been carefully renovated, preserving original details such as wooden floors, wide window niches, and two fireplaces. From the large windows, the owners have a lovely view of the rooftops, park, and treetops.

The apartment has an open-plan living space with a large dining table connecting the sitting area and the kitchen.

The original floor is dark-stained, adding a cozy atmosphere to the space, while the walls are painted in a contrasting shade called ‘Scandinavian Light’ by Jotun.

The sitting area is cozy with a large rug, a cozy fireplace, and plenty of art on the walls.

A Flos Gatto Piccolo tablelamp stands on the deep windowsill.

A wide opening connects the living room and the kitchen. The space in between forms the perfect spot for a large dinner table.

The renovated kitchen has a midcentury design, featuring light gray and white cabinets with functional fittings and a Virrvarr Formica countertop, framed by a teak strip.

In the hall, a former built-in cabinet has been turned into a smart home office.

The walls in the hall are decorated with William Morris’ Pimpernel wallpaper.

The bedroom is a lovely room, featuring pink wallpapered walls, a fireplace, and a corner window facing the park.

The walls are decorated with the “Robinson Crusoe” (in red) wallpaper by Charles Burgerger, adding a classic touch to the bedroom and harmonizing with the apartment’s building style.

The angled walls is fitted with built-in wardrobes featuring beige doors and built-in lighting.

These historic Swedish fireplaces (a kakelugn) are extraordinary and add such a beautiful historic element to any room.

The bathroom is fully tiled with white shimmering mosaic tiles on the walls and floor.

The entry hall features a built-in wardrobe and a little nook for a hat rack and shoe storage.
