A Small Apartment with an Ochre Yellow Kitchen
This small apartment in Stockholm is located on a high floor in an apartment building, offering beautiful views of the treetops and the city. Despite the small floor plan of 42 square meters, the apartment feels more spacious thanks to a smart layout, large windows, and a balcony that extends the living space.
The apartment was built in the 30s and still features original elements like the herringbone parquet, moldings, and mirror doors. Plenty of storage space, like the floor-to-ceiling cabinets and a raised bed, keeps the small apartment tidy and organized.
The living room is small but practical, with plenty of space for a comfortable seating area and a desk. The walls are painted in a light gray shade from Jotun, which is paired with the original herringbone parquet.
The plants, burnt yellow sofa, and wooden midcentury furniture add a warm and cozy vibe to the room.
The apartment features a spacious balcony with beautiful views of the trees outside.
Half of the wall between the living room and kitchen is removed to create a breakfast bar, which also helps to create a more spacious and lighter living space.
Chocolate brown walls are paired with ochre yellow cabinets to create a warm kitchen space.
The little niche in front of the window is now only a window seat, but you could also add a small round table to make it a perfect breakfast nook.
Some old Scandinavian apartments have an inner hall, a space between the entry hall and the living space. In this apartment, the space is used as a television room or guest room, and the walls are decorated with William Morris ‘Golden Lily’ wallpaper.

Behind the living room lies the bedroom, painted in an earthy color mix of pink, brown, and red. The raised bed offers plenty of underneath storage, and it also features a small built-in closet.
The wall between the living room and bedroom is fitted with a reclaimed wood slatted window to provide the bedroom with natural light.
