A Small, Cozy Attic Apartment with a Large Terrace
On the top floor of a beautiful turn-of-the-century apartment building in Gothenburg, Sweden, lies this charming one-bedroom apartment with a spacious balcony offering views over the rooftops, the courtyard garden, and a nearby church.
The attic apartment beautifully blends architectural features from 1903 with a contemporary interior featuring high-quality material choices, sober colors, and site-built interior design. The apartment has a floor plan of only 37 square meters, but with a large balcony, skylights, and smart storage, this home is absolutely adorable for singles or a couple.

The apartment has an open-plan living space. The sitting area is located next to the glazed doors leading toward the balcony, which is a beautiful extension to the living area in the warmer months.
The sitting area is wonderfully cozy, thanks to the large rug that adds a lot of texture to the area. Even though the majority of the interiors are contemporary, the gallery wall behind the sofa also includes antique art.
The balcony wall is already made of floor-to-ceiling windows, flooding the room with light, but two skylights have also been added to the apartment, adding even more light. The door in the corner leads to a built-in closet.
The other side of the living space is home to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is designed using the Lindö Art model by Kvänum. The ash gray cabinets are topped with a black-oiled oak worktop.
The bedroom is located next to the kitchen. The white-painted exposed brick wall showcases the more than 100-year-old history of the apartment. Shelves have been fitted above the bed to serve as nightstands, and the niche next to the exposed wall is perfect for wardrobes.
The open layout between the living area and the hall ensures the small apartment feels as spacious as possible. The double doors hide built-in storage, and the entire apartment is fitted with Rappgo’s white-waxed oak floor planks.
The bathroom is sober but stylish. The entire room is designed with polished limestone tiles.
The entry hall is fitted with a coat rack and shoe storage, which is cleverly fitted around the exposed brick wall.
The apartment is listed for sale at Alvhem – photography by Peter Pousard.
