A Spacious Loft Apartment in a Converted Amsterdam Grain Warehouse
On one of Amsterdam’s finest dikes lies a former grain warehouse that has been converted into beautiful apartments. This 162-square-meter loft apartment combines history, character, and modern living comforts.
The warehouse dates back to the late 19th century and originally served as a grain storage facility. In the late 20th century, the building underwent a conversion while retaining its charming original features, including wooden beams and semi-circular windows.
This apartment underwent further renovation in 2017 with the assistance of an architect, showcasing the beautiful exposed beamwork alongside modern elements, including a sleek white kitchen, a herringbone parquet floor, and industrial elements in the bathrooms.

Upon entering the apartment, you immediately step into the open-plan living space where the exposed beams showcase the historic character of the space.

The custom-made open kitchen is located just around the corner of the living space. It creates an open and social atmosphere, without having to see the kitchen from the sitting area.

The kitchen features a large central island with bar seating and floor-to-ceiling cabinets installed in the back wall.

The sitting area spans the entire width of the apartment and features windows on three sides. The exposed timber structure naturally divides the space into zones. The sitting area is in the center, flanked by a home office on one side and a dining table on the other.

A charming home office is created in the corner with a floating desk, an antique chair, plants, and a bookshelf.

Movie nights become a lot nicer with a large screen fitted between the beams.

The master bedroom is a grand space painted in a deep blue shade. The room features a light carpet and built-in wardrobes with louvre doors.

A freestanding bath is positioned in the corner of the room, while a doorway flanked by industrial-style glass windows leads to the bathroom, which features a shower.

The bathroom design hints at the industrial character of the apartment. It features handcrafted Portuguese tiles, double sinks, and a spacious walk-in shower with an industrial-style shower wall and door.

The second bedroom is painted light gray and also features an en-suite bathroom with handcrafted Portuguese tiles.

At the rear of the warehouse is a shared south-facing jetty with a dining table and a swimming ladder.

The apartment is listed at Boelen Makelaardij via Funda.
