The Maker Hotel is a collaboration between the co-founders of global beauty brand Fresh, Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg, and hospitality expert Damien Janowicz.
After opening an all-day bakery in Ghent, New York, they decided to open a hotel to bring a bespoke experience to both the close-knit upstate New York community and travelers alike.
The Maker Hotel features work from local Hudson Valley craftsmen, but also from global artisans. The hotel is decorated with vintage pieces and a unique art collection that celebrates the world of makers.
The hotel’s location is in the center of the Hudson Valley. Surrounding this place are farms and the Catskill mountains, making it a perfect escape from New York City.
The hotel offers 11 spacious rooms, divided over three historic buldings. Each room has its own unique design:
The Artist Studio
The inspiration behind the Artist Studio is the integration of a work and living space, where the place of creation and residence is interlaced for the ultimate bohemian refuge. A mélange of time periods, with sensual brushstrokes of rich colors and patterns paired with extensive artwork.
The Writer
The Writer Studio suite expresses the curiosity of the author. Filled with a library of books, personal mementos from travel adventures and curio objects- it’s a cozy retreat to stimulate inspiration.
The Garderner
The space captures the mindset of The Gardener, inspired by late 19th century iron garden pavilions where the exterior and interior blend seamlessly together. Wrought iron, normally reserved for outdoors, is blended with soft furnishings and various flora art to create a lush evocative space.
The Architect
The Architect Studio imagines the world of an architect’s living space in the 1940’s and their vision of modern design. The room reflects a disciplined approach between light, scale, textures and materials to create an emotional atmosphere.
The Apartment
The Apartment captures the spirit of Mid-Century style with vibrant earth tones and modernist lines of Scandinavian design. Ideal for families or small groups, this residential suite invites gathering and relaxation.
The Terrace Lofts
Reminiscent of bohemian rooftop studios in 1920’s Paris, they are filled with light from dormer windows and French doors leading into terraces with outdoor seating. These lofts are airy and informal, filled with eclectic art and a giant daybed that invites afternoon naps, late night conversations or a date with a book.
The Corner Studio
Inspired by the sophisticated glamour of classic Hollywood movies, The Corner Studio resembles an elegant set. With an abundance of windows and sunlight, the allure of this spacious room is punctuated with vintage photography, including a rare portrait of Joan Crawford.
The Bedrooms
These sensual bedrooms embrace guests with solace and intimacy. Echoing a boudoir sensibility with luscious jewel tones, these rooms call to lovers or independent travelers.
The hotel offers a café, restaurant, lounge and juice bar. As well as a gymnasium and library.
