Vibrant Colors in a Spacious 1940s Apartment in Stockholm
On the first floor of a 1940s apartment building, with views of the Pålsund Canal, you can find a magnificent four-bedroom apartment designed with typical midcentury elements and a vibrant color palette.
The 122-square-meter apartment has two entrances, so it may be a merger of two smaller apartments. Now, it is a spectacular family home with typical 40s elements such as large windows, spacious rooms, and parquet flooring.

The living room is an airy and bright space with an open doorway to the kitchen for a social layout.

The room features a beautiful parquet floor and a bright pink accent wall, paired with beige on the other walls.

The large room has enough space for a sitting area by the window overlooking the canal and a large dining area, defined by a rug.

A floating midcentury cabinet and built-in bookshelves add storage space without making the room feel bulky with large storage furniture.

From the living room, you move into the spacious kitchen. The kitchen was designed and built on-site by the current owners. It has a midcentury design, plenty of workspace, and room for a breakfast table.

The kitchen pairs bright blue doors with a solid oak worktop and a parquet floor. The open upper cabinets add a playful touch to the kitchen space.

On the other side, the bright cabinets are paired with a stainless steel sink, simple white backsplash tiles, and yellow wallpaper (the Hawthorn wallpaper by Neisha Crosland).

On the other side of the room, there is space for a large dining table, which the current owners combined with an antique wooden bench.

The living room is extended into an inner hall with built-in bookshelves. From here, you can walk to two of the bedrooms and a bathroom.

The other bedrooms and bathroom can be accessed via the hall from the kitchen.

All bedrooms are spacious. Despite the use of color in the apartment, the master bedroom is kept neutral with white walls and bedding.

The room features a built-in wardrobe with sage-green doors. There is also a walk-in wardrobe just outside the room.

This bedroom used to be the kitchen. It is now used as a creative home office with white walls and green-painted floorboards.

The third bedroom was also used as a kitchen (so this apartment is definitely a merger of two). The fresh bedroom still has a sink and from the large window you have views of the canal.

A vibrant pop of color returns in the fourth bedroom, where the wall surrounding the window and the desk niche are painted in a sunny yellow shade.

The office niche features a preserved built-in cabinet from the 1940s.

The apartment has two bathrooms, one in each wing. The first bathroom is designed in an industrial style with white and gray walls paired with an industrial shower glass and a dark gray ceiling.

The apartment is listed for sale at Fastighetsbyrån.
