A Yellow Farmhouse with Bold Color Pops in Wales
Surrounded by 12 acres of ancient woodland and meadows, with views of the rolling hills of the Welsh countryside, stands an 18th-century farmhouse that has been carefully restored by its current owner, designer Hilton Marlton.
The house was built in 1796, and many of its original features are still present. Framed by age-old woodland, you will see the striking farmhouse with an ochre yellow limewash facade. This color pop sets the tone for the spaces you’ll find indoors.

The formal hall features black and red quarry tiles in a chequerboard pattern and plank paneling in a gray-green shade that provides storage space.
One of the sitting rooms in the house features wall paneling painted in ‘Coachella’ by Craig and Rose and dark slate flooring.
A second sitting room is created in the space that used to be the kitchen. It’s a lovely space with wide oak floorboards, limewash walls, and a wood burner that will create a cozy atmosphere.
The country kitchen was specifically designed to complement the period features of the old house. It is centered around an aga stove and has a large dining table in the middle.
The kitchen also features period stone sink with reclaimed brass taps.
The large dairy room features flagstone flooring and slate shelves. The shelf brackets have been carefully re-created following the original design of the old kitchen mantlepiece.
The dining room lies in the oldest part of the house and features its original flags on the floor and a 19th-century cast-iron range.
The house has four bedrooms, each with their own color scheme.
This bedroom is painted in a green shade made to match historic paint samples found under layers of ancient wallpaper in this room.
The fourth bedroom is painted in a duck-egg shade paired with a yellow-painted canopy bedframe.
The sheltered courtyard, with a porch veranda along three sides, is cobbled with stones from the river. The current owner designed and implemented the reorientation of the 18th-century house, which provides a wonderful indoor/outdoor space.
The house is listed for £1,200,000 at Inigo.
