A Warm Nature-Inspired Color Palette in a 1950s Stockholm Apartment

On the first floor of a 1950s apartment building in Stockholm’s Bagarmossen area lies a beautiful one-bedroom apartment where preserved midcentury elements are paired with a warm, nature-inspired color palette.

The 54-square-meter apartment is located in a corner position, featuring large windows on two sides that flood the interior spaces with light, enhanced by the original glass sliding doors between the living room and kitchen.

The finest feature of this Swedish apartment is the warm, nature-inspired color palette. Terracotta, red, blue, and green tones are used to create a colorful yet cohesive palette in the rooms.

The living room is color-drenched in a warm terracotta shade and also features the original 1950s Dutch parquet floor.

Huge windows (typical for apartments built during this period) bring in plenty of natural light and offer views of the trees outside.

The blue chair designed by Fredrik Paulsen for Joy Objects adds a nice extra color pop to the terracotta room.

While the living room was a terracotta haven, the kitchen is the blue room with a checkered blue and white floor, blue dining chairs, and blue kitchen cabinets.
