An Early 20th-Century Apartment with a Pink Kitchen
What a lovely home I can share with you today. In an early 20th-century building in Gothenburg lies this one-bedroom apartment decorated in a wonderful color palette of gray, beige, and pink, highlighting the period features.
The 72-square-meter apartment belongs to northern Art Director Matilda Hellström, and she channeled her former interior design career into her own home, creating wonderful, inviting spaces, including a color-drenched gray living room and an all-pink kitchen.

The beautiful home was built in 1909, and period features like a tiled fireplace, wooden floorboards, high ceilings, and mirror doors have been preserved. These classic elements are paired with contemporary design and a modern color scheme, creating a wonderful blend of old and new.

The living room is a wonderful color-drenched gray space with period features that give the room warmth and character. Large windows with deep niches flood the room with light, so it can definitely handle the moody color palette.

The living room has two sitting areas, including a charming sitting nook by the fireplace. The IKEA JÄRLÅSA rolling cart creates a nice contrasting color pop to the gray room.

Two large pendants from Watt & Veke hang above the sitting area.

An orange donut wall lamp from the IKEA Varmblixt collection adds another color pop to the room.

The walls are painted in Flugger’s Favorite Color Shade 2, and the ceiling is painted a shade darker: Favorite Color Shade 3 by Flugger.

Double mirror doors separate the living room from the master bedroom.

The bedroom is spacious, bright, and calm, with a light beige shade on the walls, the original wooden floor, and large windows.

The spacious room also has access to the wrought iron balcony.

The window niche in the corner is the perfect spot for a home office or a vanity table.

One wall is fitted with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes in a classic design and painted in the same color as the walls to create a calm, harmonious bedroom look.

From calm, neutral-colored rooms, we head to the kitchen, painted in a wonderful shade of pink that extends to the kitchen cabinets.

The room features kitchen cabinets from Kvick that extend from floor to ceiling to maximize storage space.

The best element of the kitchen is probably the corner window seat, decorated with cozy textiles in green and neutral tones. Not only is the window seat pretty, it also serves as storage space.

The hall, centrally located, connects all the rooms of the home and offers turn-of-the-century details such as high ceilings, profiled moldings, deep door niches, and original wooden floors. A built-in walk-in closet offers smart storage. The walls are painted in Jotun’s Letthet.
