A Pink 1930s Studio Apartment with a Lovely Private Garden

On the ground floor of a Swedish 1930s functionalist building south of central Stockholm lies this charming pink studio apartment with a lush, small private garden overlooking Lake Mälaren.

The 34 square meter apartment feels like a little house rather than an apartment. It has a combined living room and bedroom, painted in a lovely shade of pink, and a separate (original) kitchen with a glass door leading to a lovely patch of greenery with views of the water. Living small doesn’t look too bad when it can be like this!

The living room is big enough for a comfortable seating area and a double bed. From the windows, you can overlook the small garden, and because of the sloped ground, no one can look inside.

The walls are painted pink, and together with the wooden floorboards create a cozy and warm atmosphere. It is decorated in a lovely blend of modern and vintage pieces, and a large rug adds even more color to the space.

Simple IKEA Kyrre stools have been painted and stacked. Now, they work as a bedside table, but when you have visitors over, you can use them for extra seating space. When you live small, you have to be practical and buy items that can be used in multiple ways.

Thanks to the sloped ground, the garden is very secluded. You can hardly imagine you’re living in a big city like Stockholm.
