A Kitchen with William Morris Wallpaper in a Light Early 20th-Century Apartment
On the fourth floor of a classic turn-of-the-century apartment building in Stockholm lies a beautiful apartment with light-filled spaces, period features, and a cozy kitchen featuring William Morris wallpaper.
Period features from the building’s Art Nouveau style have been preserved, such as large windows, stucco, double doors, moldings, and a serving cabinet, adding a classic touch to the interior spaces.

The classic early 20th-century elements are complemented with modern furnishings in the living room.

The tall windows flood the room with natural light, and the herringbone parquet floor complements the turn-of-the-century style beautifully. The light, soft color on the walls enhances the bright atmosphere.

The room is spacious, with space for a large dining table in front of the window and a seating area on the other side.

The living room can be accessed from the hall and the bedroom through original double doors, creating a circular layout.

The kitchen is my favorite room in the house. It pairs classic elements with a modern kitchen design. Along one wall, modern cabinets with light gray doors are paired with brass fittings and classic white backsplash tiles.

Even the sink is made of brass, adding an extra warm element to the kitchen space.

The other side of the kitchen feels more in style with the turn-of-the-century architecture. White tilework is paired with the classic “Pimpernell” wallpaper by William Morris and antique decor.

The kitchen opens up toward a west-facing courtyard balcony with two benches and herbs and flowers hanging from the railing.

The apartment’s only bedroom can be accessed via the hall and the living room. The walls are plastered in a dark gray hue that highlights the room’s high baseboards and moldings.

A lovely work-from-home area has been created with an antique desk in front of the large window.

Floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobes provide ample storage and keep the room tidy.

The bathroom was recently renovated with white tiled walls and dark green paint. The room features a combined bath and shower with stylish black fittings.

The washing machine is neatly tucked away in a cabinet with the same blue-colored doors as the walls.

The entry hall is painted in a warm terracotta-red shade and features a smart niche by the door for shoes and coats, as well as an original serving cabinet from the beginning of the 20th century.

The apartment was listed for sale at Historiska Hem.
