A Beautiful Renovated Family Home with a Charming Garden
In idyllic Liseberg, Sweden, stands a beautiful 1920s villa that has been well looked after in the 100 years since its completion. The current owner bought the house from the family who built the house, so you can safely say that this has been a much loved family home for decades.
The house has undergone extensive renovations in recent years. The many preserved original details have been restored and supplemented with reuse from homes built in the same time period and new materials handmade in an old-fashioned style.
The entire renovation has been carefully thought out. Modern material choices harmonize nicely with period details, such as moldings, mirrored doors, and parquet and plank floors. The walls are painted with lovely colors, most of which are taken from Farrow & Ball with different colors highlighting the beautiful joinery.
Even though the house is renovated with much care for the old period elements, the home also has a contemporary vibe, creating comfortable spaces that suit modern day living.
The living room is a charming space with warm beige walls, brown joinery, and a large white rug.
From the living room, you move into the dining room where the walls are painted in a bold rusty red shade.
The ground floor has a lovely layout, where all the rooms are connected. The kitchen can be accessed via the dining room and the hall.
The kitchen has a classic look with mirror doors and drawers paired with a light oak countertop and white backsplash tiles.
The walls are painted in a gray-green hue from Jotun.
A charming breakfast area has been created by the window.
Through a kitchen door, you enter a second hallway with a blue-painted staircase leading to the upper floor.
There are three bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom is painted in a light beige shade paired with a bold yellow throw, matching the veranda that you can access via this room.
I’m not sure if I have ever seen this before. The master bedroom opens into a glass veranda that has been turned into a home office.
The desk under the window offers nice views of the surroundings, and the walls are painted in a sunny yellow shade. This looks like the perfect workspace to me.
There are two more bedrooms on the first floor. The children’s room has charming mint-green walls paired with pink joinery. It also has a walk-in closet.
The small bathroom under the slanted ceiling was renovated a couple of years ago. It features white tiles and gray octagonal floor tiles paired with a charming pink shade on the walls.
A beautiful arched window lets in daylight and fresh air.
The main hall is divided into a veranda area with large windows and an inner hall with tongue and groove paneling.
Surrounding the house lies a charming garden with trees, flowers, plants, and a greenhouse with a log burner that becomes a second sitting room.
