A Green Kitchen and a Pink Bedroom in a Charming Apartment
In the heart of Midsommarkransen – an area described as a picturesque small town only a short bike ride from the city center of Stockholm – lies an old factory building with dormer windows and a facade made of plaster and brick. In this early 20th-century building, we can find this charming apartment with a green kitchen and a pink bedroom.
Period windows, moldings, and old wooden doors reveal the history of the 100-year-old apartment. The 51 square meters of living space are well distributed, with an open-plan living room and kitchen and a charming bedroom with a wardrobe wall hidden by a curtain.
Two large barred windows flood the open-plan living area with light, and in the summer, these windows offer views of the greenery outside.
The room is painted in a calm and pleasant beige shade, paired with a light wooden parquet floor. These neutral shades are combined with the occasional color pop, like a red rug and the green kitchen cabinets.
Bookshelves line one wall, paired with closed cabinets that provide plenty of storage and offer space to display art, plants, and other personal items to make the room feel like home.
Even though the apartment isn’t that big, the living space has plenty of room for a large dinner table between the sitting area and the kitchen, creating a wonderful social atmosphere, perfect for long dinner parties with friends and family.
The kitchen was refreshed a couple of years ago, painting the cabinet door a pleasant dark green shade and adding a new solid oak countertop.
The shelves are also made of oak, creating a uniform look in the kitchen.
There is plenty of storage space in the kitchen, and the combination of closed cabinets on one wall and shelves on the other creates an airy look.
The apartment’s only bedroom lies next to the living room. The walls are painted in a calming terracotta pink shade, paired with art on the walls and a light wooden parquet floor.
One wall is turned into a wardrobe wall made of the Elfa shelving system with built-in lighting. The wardrobe is semi hidden from view by a pair of sheer curtains.
The apartment has a spacious hall in a semi-open layout with the living area. The niche by the front door are fitted with a shelf and coat hangers and on the other side, a wardrobe wall is created using Elfa shelves that are hidden by a curtain.
The walls are painted in the same beige shade as the living room.
