A Beautifully Renovated Early 20th-Century Apartment
This two-bedroom Stockholm apartment lies on the third floor of an Art Nouveau building close to Lake Mälaren. The apartment was renovated in recent years, adding a new kitchen and a harmonious color palette that pairs beautifully with the original elements.
The early 20th-century apartment features original elements like a large bay window, wooden floorboards, mirror doors, and high ceilings. The newer additions blend perfectly with the old architecture, creating a social and inviting apartment.

From the entrance hall, you walk straight into the living room, which is a wonderful, bright room thanks to the large bay with windows in three directions that also give a glimpse of the sea.

The room is designed for social gatherings, with a large wooden table sitting in front of the bay window.

The owners created a cozy seating area, defined by a large Persian rug. Bookshelves and music storage cabinets line one wall while two IKEA chairs from their Nytillverkad collection add a nice, vibrant color pop.

The walls are painted in a light gray hue, which highlights the original white joinery.

The apartment has a semi-open layout between the living room and kitchen. The open doorway beyond is leading to the second bedroom and the bathroom.

The kitchen was renovated a couple of years ago. It pairs gray-green cabinets with a light gray-beige shade on the walls (“Liquid” by Jotun). Even though the space isn’t that big, the kitchen is very functional and has plenty of storage.

An industrial window has been fitted in the wall between the kitchen and the master bedroom, ensuring the kitchen gets natural light.

The gray-green kitchen cabinets are paired with a light composite stone countertop and stylish handles.

One wall has been fitted with floor-to-ceiling cabinets, ensuring there is enough storage space in the room.

The fluted glass pendant lights above the countertop add a nice historical element to the kitchen space.

The living room gives access to the first bedroom, which is now used as the master bedroom, even though the other bedroom is larger.

There is just enough room for a double bed, and the walls are painted in Jotun’s “Green Harmony”.

The second bedroom is now a lovely children’s room with a large window and walls painted in Jotun’s golden pink color “Soft Skin”.

The apartment has a spacious hall where a niche has been fitted with nice joinery painted in a deep green hue that matches the historic architecture of the apartment. There is also an original built-in cabinet offering even more storage space.

The wooden floorboards are painted in a light checkerboard pattern, and the walls are painted beige.
