A Black Cottage in Iceland Decorated in Dark Grey Tones
With an extinct vulcano in the backyard and the North Atlantic sea on the other side this black cottage is part of a majestic scenery. The owners – Rut Káradóttir & Kristinn Arnarson loved the historic black cottages in Iceland that are no longer ‘in style’.
So when they decided to built a vacation home an hour outside Reykjavik, they chose to built a modern version of the traditional black cottage. Inside the cottage is decorated in warm dark grey hues combined with natural wood and warm textures.
It’s a nice contrast with the cold snowy climate outside and I can imagine it might be difficult to leave this place for the city again.
