A Light Historic House in Amsterdam
On one of the finest streets in Amsterdam lies a beautifully renovated house with light rooms, original elements, and a blue design kitchen. The duplex apartment of 178 square meters lies on the first and second floors of a late 19th-century building with views of a historic church.
The owners decided to design the house with large open-plan spaces, and the ceiling height of 3.27 meters enhances this feeling of space. The living room and kitchen/dining room are one big space with windows on the front and the back. Built-in cabinets on the kitchen side and the living room side act as a subtle divider between the rooms.
The love for grand spaces is also visible in the master bedroom, which is a grand room with a bed in the center of the space and an open bathroom. This stunning Amsterdam house perfectly pairs historic elegance and modern furniture.
The best room in the house is (in my opinion) the combined kitchen and dining room. The modern Piet Boon kitchen has deep blue cabinets paired with marble worktop and backsplash.
The room is so big that it has plenty of space for a grand dining table. This curved example is a wonderful statement piece in the room.
Connected to the kitchen is a conservatory that can be fully opened by a large glass facade.
The living room is located at the front of the house with views of the Vondelkerk. The room is wonderfully light with large windows and warm beige walls. Connecting to this room is a smaller room which is now used as an office.
The three large windows in the master bedroom not only flood the room with light but they also offer views of the historic church. Thanks to the size of the room, the canopy bed can be placed in the center while it also leaves plenty of space for a vanity and wardrobes.
The open bathroom is luxurious and equipped with a bathtub, walk-in shower, and sink.
At the rear is a multifunctional space that can be closed off with a sliding wall as a bedroom or used as an extra living space. In the conservatory and side room is a workspace that can also be used as an extra bedroom.
