A Midcentury Swedish Apartment with Bold Colors
On the top floor of a stockholm apartment building lies this midcentury family apartment with spacious rooms, two bedrooms, and bold color accents. The home has been carefully renovated by its current owners, without compromising its period original charm.
The apartment features smartly planned surfaces and generous rooms, which is typical for buildings built in the 50s. Large windows also flood the home with natural light, making it a very pleasent home.
The living room is located in the center of the apartment with large windows facing west that let in afternoon light and a balcony that extends the living space in warmer months.
The walls are painted in a soft antique white tone, while the sanded Dutch parquet floor has been treated with hard wax oil.
Originally, this area were two smaller rooms but the dividing wall has been removed to create one big kitchen and dining area.
Now, light floods into the room from two directions and there’s plenty of space for a large dining table.
The kitchen is made of white and plywood cabinets paired with light gray backsplash tiles.
The master bedroom can be accessed through a pair of glass and white doors in the living room. The entire room, including the custom built in wardrobes around the bed, is painted in a wonderful blue shade.
The headboard is made of wood, adding a warm accent to the space.
The second bedroom is a fun children’s room with a built-in double loft bed, decorated with a large rainbow and a floral background wallpaper “Rebate” from Boråstapeter.
The hallway screams 1950s with a cork floor and the “Ängby” wallpaper from Boråstapeter.
