A Serene English Cottage in Cornwall
In the village of St. Tudy in the English county of Cornwall stands a beautiful cottage that its current owners have carefully renovated into a serene home. The two-bedroom cottage has a beautiful interior design with lime plaster walls and a pared-back color scheme.
The 62 square meter / 677 sq ft cottage has a modest floorplan, but the light spaces with carefully selected furniture pieces turn this small home into a cozy abode in the English countryside.
The calm interiors are paired with a south-westerly facing garden, where climbing wisteria and roses climb the cottage’s façade, creating an English cottage exactly as you would imagine it.
On the ground floor are two rooms: the living room on the left of the hall and the kitchen on the right. during the renovation work, the owners revealed the original lime plaster walls. One of these walls has been left exposed, while the others have been painted in a soft beige hue by Bauwerk, perfectly complimenting the white-painted timber-beamed ceiling.
The interior of the room is focused around a new woodburning fireplace flanked by shelves in the niches. The bay window with deep window sill would also make a great reading spot with a couple of pillows.
The second room on the ground floor houses the cottage kitchen. The same light, natural color scheme can be found here with white kitchen cabinets paired with a wooden worktop and a butler sink under the window.
The woodwork on the stairs has been left exposed, showing the history of the house and it gives the room a raw and natural look.
The master bedroom is also decorated in a light and natural color scheme with a sand color on the walls and a beautiful wooden floor.
The bedroom is fitted with built-in wardrobes on the other side of the bed. The arch in the master bedroom leads to the second bedroom.
The second bedroom is now a home office/guest bedroom. The single bed is also a storage space to maximize the limited space there is in the home.
The bathroom is designed in a minimalistic look with a rainfall shower set behind a plastered tadelakt wall partition and brass fittings.
The garden at the front of the house is a green haven during the summer months with mature perennials and climbing shrubs, including wisteria, jasmine, and clematis.
