A Small Apartment with a Cozy Dining Nook
With windows on three sides and views of a quiet green courtyard with apple trees, this house feels more like a small home than an apartment. The small apartment, which is 49 square meters, has an open and flowing layout, which makes it feel more spacious. And thanks to the windows on three sides, you can follow the natural light throughout the home.
In recent years, the apartment has been completely renovated with fresh walls and floors, and the kitchen has also undergone a careful renovation. The apartment was built in the 1940s, and some historic elements, such as serving cabinets and a pantry in the kitchen, wardrobes, mirrored doors, and stone window sills, have been preserved.
The apartment is now a one bedroom but the space next to the kitchen can be turned into a second bedroom or office. However, I really like the dining nook they have created here with a wooden bench and table, plants, and shelves.
The corner location of the living room means that there are windows in two directions. The room is painted in a light gray shared that is paired with a green sofa, a large jute rug, and rattan chairs for a natural look.
Floating white cabinets provide plenty of storage and the floating aspect gives a roomier feeling.
The dining room can be accessed through the living room and the kitchen. The cozy space is painted in ‘Reflection’ from Jotun and the extended table with bench seating means that it can seat up to six people.
The kitchen was renovated in 2018 and has large parts of the fine original interior preserved from the year of construction. There is plenty of storage here thanks to cupboards, pantry, cleaning cupboard, pot cupboard, and additional space for kitchen utensils and crockery.
The bedroom is decorated in a relaxed style with walls painted in “Sand Forest Green” from Auro and earth-colored textiles.
