A Small, Light Swedish Apartment with Midcentury Features
On the top floor of a midcentury apartment building in Stockholm lies this charming one-bedroom apartment with the original midcentury kitchen. The apartment is small, with only 46 square meters of floor plan. Still, the apartment feels more spacious and airy, with windows in three directions, a high location that offers unobstructed views, and a sunny southwestern balcony.
My favorite part of the house is the kitchen, which is original to the house built in the 1940s. It has been updated over the years but still retains its midcentury charm, which adds so much character to the little home.

The apartment has an open, flowing floor plan between the living room, kitchen, and hall. The living room in the corner of the house has windows on two sides and a sunny balcony that extends the living space in warmer months.

The room is decorated in a midcentury style, and though small, it can accommodate a sitting area and a dining space.

The open floor plan makes the small home feel bigger than its actual square meters.

The kitchen is designed in a classic galley style with original cabinets on one side, and the other is fitted with cabinets in the same style to create a harmonious midcentury feel. A tiny kitchen table sits under the window.

The kitchen cabinets are painted in a muted gray-green shade, paired with a wooden countertop, white backsplash tiles, and wooden shelves.

The little nook for the kitchen table is perfect for a morning coffee.

The bedroom is decorated in a neutral palette with wooden floorboards and neutral gray, beige, and sand tones in the accessories.

The apartment has a spacious hall with warm wooden floorboards, three original built-in cabinets and bench by the front door.
