An 1890s Stockholm Apartment with a Blue Bedroom
This two-bedroom apartment with a flowing floor plan seamlessly blends well-preserved 1890s period features and contemporary design elements. The wooden floorboards, parquet, stucco, and ceiling rosette are beautifully preserved from the late 19th century and on the other hand a new kitchen and bathroom have been fitted for modern comfort.
The home is decorated in a soothing color palette of light gray and blue. The master bedroom and bathroom are the most bold spaces in the house, with teal blue walls in the bedroom and glossy dark blue tiles in the bathroom.
The apartment has a lovely open-plan living room and kitchen with classic light gray walls and a parquet floor. Period features like stucco, high skirting boards, and ceiling rosette are painted white to make it stand out beautifully.
On the other side of the room, a new kitchen has been added with light gray cabinets with stone worktops. The room isn’t very big, so in the kitchen, they made the most of the high ceilings by adding a double row of upper cabinets.
The master bedroom features two large windows making it a wonderfully bright room. The walls are painted in a bold teal blue shade which makes the white painted period features really pop.
The bold blue walls are paired with antique furniture like a cane headboard, a nightstand, and a beautiful antique vanity.
The second bedroom is painted in a calm light gray shade which is paired with a classic parquet floor. This room also gives access to the apartment’s courtyard balcony.
The recently renovated bathroom makes the most of the modest space. The moody space is fitted with dark blue vertical tiles and blue cabinets offering plenty of storage space. The room has a classic look thanks to the brass fittings, Victorian style floor, and marble sink top.
The hallway, with a herringbone parquet floor, is decorated with the William Morris Willow wallpaper in blue colors.
The entry is fitted with a custom wardrobe and shoe storage bench to keep it tidy. The blue shade adds a nice bold color pop.
