Arched Shapes and Hand-Painted Murals in a Joyful London Townhouse
Do you love colorful interiors? If so, you need to stay right here and see this wonderful three-bedroom townhouse in Forest Gate, east London. When the owners bought this newly built home, they enlisted the help of PL Studio to reimagine it into a warm, characterful, and joy-filled home with a unique color palette and hand murals in every room.
PL Studio‘s brief was to inject personality, positivity, and confidence into rooms that once felt lacklustre. The result is a kaleidoscopic design packed with exuberance, where daring palettes and unexpected details bring each floor to life.
A captivating Majorelle blue acts as a connecting thread, weaving through the home and linking the distinct, spirited spaces together. And on the top floor, you will find a spacious roof terrace with panoramic views.

The house is laid out over three floors. You enter the home on the ground floor in a large entrance hall from where you can step into this sitting room/home office.
The home office has charming bubblegum pink walls, and three arches have been created for each bookcase. The ceiling is fitted with a surrealist sky-design paper.
Arch shapes are a recurrent design feature in the home. An arched doorway with a pink curtain in the home office gives access to a small storage space.
The entrance hall is painted in the vibrant Majorelle blue shade, which will feature in more rooms in the house.
An open and light staircase connects the floors in the townhouse.
For this home tour, I am moving straight to the upper floor where you can find a stunning open-plan living room and kitchen.
The room is half-painted in a pastel blue-green shade with a pastel pink border. Geometric shapes in bolder orange and Majorelle blue tones add a nice design element.
At the back of the room is a spacious kitchen made of pastel pink and white Pluck cabinets topped with an acrylic countertop. On one side, wall-mounted, glass-fronted cabinets made of Nordic oak add more storage.
The middle floor is home to two bedrooms. The jade-colored master bedroom has two-toned viridescent walls.
Another arched cut-out gives access to the built-in wardrobe, which is semi-hidden from view by a sheer curtain.
The second bedroom has a wonderful green and white striped ceiling. The bathroom on this floor is painted in pastel pink with black borders (just as in the master bedroom). And there is an arched entrance into the bath.
On top of the house is a large roof terrace with panoramic views that lends itself perfectly for entertaining and relaxing.
The house is listed for £920,000 at The Modern House.
