The Real Shaker Kitchen by deVOL
Last week I showed you a beautiful kitchen in a Victorian Rectory by British kitchen company deVOL. And today I will show you a kitchen from their brand new showroom. deVol Kitchens have crossed the ocean and opened a shop in Bond Street, New York. This new showroom showcases their 4 kitchen styles (The Classic English Kitchen, The Real Shaker Kitchen, The Sebastion Cox Kitchen & The Real Haberdasher’s Kitchen) and with their amazing eye for design, color and vintage finds this showroom is packed with design inspiration.
The kitchen I’ll show you today is a Real Shaker Kitchen and you might recognize this from my post about ochre yellow interior design. The walls are painted in ‘India Yellow’ by Farrow and Ball and it truly gives the kitchen a warm atmosphere. In combination with the grey cabinets and vintage objects this kitchen gives a real vintage vibe but with all modern appliances.
“Warm colours of umber and beautiful objects with a history create a feeling of home comforts and a love of cooking. This kitchen was designed to show you how just the simplest of runs as a starting point can turn into a totally authentic and atmospheric kitchen when you choose the right combination of colours and styling. A wall of panels and heritage glass was painted and then aged to give a feeling of time and allow sunlight to stream into even the darkest corners. This shadowy sunlight against the warm mellow yellow of the walls has given this room a beautiful ambience and cleverly turned a dark space into a peaceful and magical kitchen.“ - Helen Parker, creative director of deVOL

“We were adamant that we would have original artwork in our showroom, we bought from friends, from customers, from people on Instagram and from complete strangers. We don’t have a limitless supply of cash for art, so we were careful and with our limited knowledge. We feel we have represented some really talented people who, until now, have had little or no exposure. Their work has enhanced our showroom beyond anything we could have imagined. We don’t just throw money at our showrooms, we are canny and careful and we use our imagination to create displays from all kinds of interesting objects.”
