A Beautiful 1920s Spanish-Style Villa in Los Feliz

In the hillside neighborhood of Los Feliz in Los Angeles stands this beautiful 1920’s Spanish-style villa designed by Isabelle Dahlin. First thing you notice from the outside are the turquoise window trimmings and doors which give this home a vibrant look from the outside.

Ínside, the color scheme is far calmer with natural greens, whites, and blues. The living room is a true beauty with arched windows (with greenery outside), a moss green sofa, leather club chairs, and a large fireplace decorated with tiles.

A farmhouse-style table stands in the dining room with a rustic bench on one side and wicker chairs on the other side. There is a large (new) kitchen with white cabinets and golden details for a little bling (we’re in Hollywood after all).

The main house has 4 spacious bedrooms and in the garden stands a guesthouse of 52sq. meter.

The guesthouse is decorated in moody color tones with a blue kitchen, a dark wooden floor and a bedroom with dark floral wallpaper and 4-poster bed. The hilly garden has several cozy terrace spaces and a swimming pool. Coming from a very flat country (The Netherlands) I always love a more hilly landscape and therefor I love the height differences in this garden. It’s a true beauty!

The Los Feliz villa belongs to producer Brian Kavaneugh-Jones and writer/director Shana Feste. Kavanaugh-Jones won an Emmy as a producer for the film ‘Bad Education’ and Shana Feste wrote and directed ‘Country Strong’, ‘Boundaries’ and ‘You’re Not You’. Their previous home (also in Los Feliz) was designed by Emily Henderson.

The garden is like being on holiday in the Mediterranean, with a hotel sign attached to the house and a playhouse for the children. The grounds include a trickling waterfall and blossoming fruit trees.
