C2 Paint Color of the Year 2025: Raku
The Colors of 2025 keep coming in, and today, I can share the warm color that C2 Paint has chosen as their trending color. I see a trend forming as C2 Paint is the next paint company to pick a warm color as their COTY.
C2 Paint has chosen Raku as its Color of the Year 2025. Raku is an earthy, burnt, brownish-red shade that infuses spaces with drama and intimacy. It’s a deep yet vibrant tone, with dynamic undertones of rich mahogany that exude a sense of security, simplicity, and sophistication.
Raku is more than just a color; it’s a true chameleon, shifting between an oxidized sanguine to a dark burgundy with subtle purple and brown undertones. This creates an aura of warmth and elegance, making it a perfect choice for those looking to infuse their homes with a sense of serenity and sophistication.
Inspired by the ancient Japanese tea ceremony, the color C2 Raku draws from a centuries-old pottery technique celebrated for its unique, variegated patterns—a process that embraces intentionality and the beauty of imperfection.
This philosophy is embodied in the C2 Raku hue, which stands for the beauty of imperfection and the elegance of simplicity. It transforms your home into a canvas of self-expression, encouraging a life of balance and the appreciation of life’s quieter, more meaningful moments.
“Raku offers more than just color; it is an expression of balance, comfort, and timeless elegance,” says Philippa Radon, C2 Paint Color Director. “In a world where polarizing views can divide and isolate, Raku offers us a palette that returns us to simple, grounding pleasures.”
Warm and inviting colors like C2 Raku are becoming increasingly popular as people seek comfort and familiarity in their spaces. They evoke a sense of warmth, embrace, and nostalgia, aligning perfectly with the trend of creating safe, comforting home environments.
The deep brown and red undertones of C2 Raku mirror colors found in nature, such as the rich soil of the earth, the vibrancy of autumn leaves, and the changes in seasons—an edge over traditional neutrals or browns.
C2 has chosen three accent colors to accompany the 2025 color Raku, including two neutrals and a warm ochre yellow for a bolder color pop. Raku can be used as a warm neutral, or you can use it as a warm accent for home decor or furniture.
I’m happy to see more warm colors as color trends for 2025. It’s the second brown shade after Graham & Brown’s Elderton.
