A Characteristic Swedish Family Home with a Tower Room
Today, we are revisiting a house that was posted on The Nordroom in 2021. While the characteristic architecture of the early 20th century has remained, including the green facade and the charming tower room, the interior decor has changed, which makes it nice to go back.
The house was built in 1909 by Mr. Karl Blomqvist and has been extended over the years. The beautiful architecture with an octagonal tower, a glass veranda, and original windows is surrounded by a lovely garden with gnarled trees, flowers, lawns, and a greenhouse.

The ground floor is home to a kitchen with a glass veranda, a spacious living room, a separate dining room, and a bathroom.

The kitchen features cabinets from Kvänum with recently painted doors in a nice blue shade, paired with brass fittings and a Carrara marble countertop.

The room features traditional tongue-and-groove paneling painted in a light gray linseed oil paint. The room has a pantry, and the right door leads to the basement stairs.

Classic white tiles are used as the backsplash, with white shelves for storage containers within easy reach.

The kitchen opens to a glass veranda filled with plants, creating a beautiful breakfast nook.

The living room is divided into two areas, with a sitting room on one side and a library/music room on the other. The walls are painted in a dark gray shade, highlighting the white-painted joinery.

Large windows allow natural light to flow into the rooms while also offering nice views of the garden.

The sitting area is centered around a beautiful cast-iron stove, adding warmth and character. The green quilt blanket is from IB Laursen.

Through glazed double doors in the vestibule, you enter the fresh dining room with white-painted floorboards and beige-yellow walls.

A beautiful cast iron spiral staircase leads you to the charming tower room.

The tower room is a charming space that can be used as a home office/craft room like it is today, but it would also be a magnificent reading room.

From the tower room, you can access the roof terrace nestled between the roof ridges.

Upstairs are three bedrooms. The largest bedroom is painted in a soothing blue shade and features built-in wardrobes with cane doors under the sloped ceiling.

From the bedroom, you can also access the large roof terrace.

The two smaller bedrooms are used as children’s rooms. One is painted in a nice green hue and features a built-in bunk bed.

The first floor hall is also fitted with built-in wardrobes for extra storage space.

The second children’s room is painted in a warm yellow shade.

There is a small bathroom on the first floor, which was added to the house when the current owners bought the house in 2021.

The room features tongue-and-groove paneling painted in a nice green hue, emerald green tiles from Portugal in the shower, and English floor tiles.

The entrance hall is decorated with a William Morris wallpaper.

The bathroom on the ground floor is a romantic space with interior from Byggfabriken, a clawfoot bath, a separate shower, and a custom-built commode with a recessed sink.

The basement floor features a second sitting room with a brick fireplace.

The house is surrounded by a 950-square-meter garden plot with perennial flower beds, stone paths, lawns, and several patios.
