A Colorful Studio Apartment with Smart Storage and A Cozy Bed Niche
This colorful studio apartment lies on the second floor of a 1930s yellow-plastered apartment building in the Södermalm district in Stockholm. The studio features some great design elements if you wonder how to design a studio apartment in a functional and stylish manner.
The 33-square-meter studio apartment has a main room where you live and sleep and a separate kitchen. Both rooms are decorated with color, from the green walls in the living area to the yellow ceiling in the kitchen. The main living space is also divided into a sleeping and living area, creating a sense of living in a one-bedroom apartment.
The main room is divided into two areas: there is a sitting area by the large window and a bed nook on the other side of the room, divided by a drawer cabinet.
The entire room is painted in a natural green hue, paired with pink color accents in the rug, curtains, and cushions.
One wall is fitted with shelves and drawers, adding plenty of storage and allowing you to display books and other personal items.
The entire apartment features the original wooden floors from the 1930s, adding character and warmth to the rooms.
The layout of the room lends itself perfectly to a cozy bed niche. To create a feeling of living in a one-bedroom apartment, the owners added a drawer cabinet between the living and sleeping area, and the curtains on two sides can be drawn to have a closed-off sleeping area.
The bed niche fits a double bed comfortably. The green shade on the walls is paired with trending cobalt blue bedding and a deep red headboard, a shade that returns in the hallway.
A small desk has been fitted against the wall next to the sleeping niche.
If you live in a studio apartment, you’re very lucky if you have a separate kitchen. The kitchen in this apartment is pretty spacious and has cabinets on two sides as well as a small kitchen bar table.
Classic white cabinets are paired with a black backsplash tile. The yellow-painted ceiling adds a cheerful note to the kitchen space.
In a small home, you have to make the most of the available space. In the kitchen, the owners fitted shelves high on the wall for extra storage space.
The hall is painted in a warm, deep red shade (similar to the bed headboard) and on one side, floor-to-ceiling wardrobes have been built in, featuring a mirror door that makes the hall look bigger.
