A Colorful Swedish Apartment Inspired by the 50s and 70s
What a unique house I have in store for you! This Swedish apartment showcases a fantastic color and pattern party inspired by the 1950s and 1970s. Every room in this midcentury apartment is decorated with bold wallpapers combined with colorful furniture and decor.
Stepping inside this 60-square-meter apartment will certainly put a smile on your face. The current owners have carefully remodeled the home, adding a new kitchen, while preserving original features like built-in wardrobes and veneer doors.
The renovated kitchen is a wonderfully colorful room with deep green lower cabinets, an ochre yellow checkerboard floor, pink walls, and lemon wallpaper.
The original door between the kitchen and the smallest bedroom has been turned into a sliding door so that it doesn’t take up so much space.
The colors used in the kitchen (green, pink, and yellow) have been inspired by this classic lemon wallpaper.
The kitchen and living room have been opened up to create one big social space, with windows on two sides to make them bright and airy.
There’s also plenty of color in the living room, where a medallion-patterned wallpaper in brown and white covers the walls. Double doors open up to a sunny balcony, extending the living space in the warmer months.
The living room is such a charming and personal space filled with art, midcentury furniture, and colorful furniture.
A nice, asymmetrical glass section leads from the hall to the living room. The door has been removed to create an open floor plan.
The second bedroom, which is in line with the kitchen, is wallpapered with vinyl wallpaper with a red background and black tartan check. The doorframe and other woodwork have been painted bubblegum pink.
The room is used as a home office/reading room with a pink day bed in front of the window.
There are two original wardrobes which are painted dove blue. A nice workspace has been fitted into the niche.
The largest bedroom is decorated with floral paper wallpaper in white, mint green, and light blue on a dark blue background. There is a wardrobe wall painted in light turquoise.
Of course, the hallway also features wallpaper. This time, the owners chose a warm yellow, gold, and white wallpaper with medallions and stripes. The concrete floor is painted in mint green and finished with a high-gloss varnish.
