Colorful Wallpapers in a Well-Planned 1940s Apartment
The architects who designed apartment buildings in the 1940s knew how to create light and well-planned homes. This apartment was built during the turn of the 1930s to the 1940s and features light and airy interior spaces and fun, colorful wallpapers.
The 45 square meter apartment lies on the top floor of a small apartment building and with windows on three sides, it is a light and airy home that feels bigger than the floor plan suggests. The apartment was renovated in recent years, updating the kitchen and adding a new sunny balcony.

The living room is an airy space with large windows and doors leading to the new balcony. The parquet floor is paired with a leafy green wallpaper, matching the greenery of the tree next to the balcony.
The walls are decorated in the ‘My Secret Garden’ wallpaper designed by Linnea Andersson for Boråstapeter.
A new balcony has been added to the home, extending the living space in the warmer months. The high position and the large tree next to the balcony offer a nice sense of privacy.
There is an open doorway toward the kitchen, ensuring the rooms get natural light from windows on both sides of the apartment.
The kitchen is a bright and spacious room with windows in two directions. It has been nicely renovated with custom-built cabinets and hand-painted doors.
The kitchen features a nice combination of closed cabinets that reach the ceiling and wooden shelves that maintain an open feeling in the kitchen space.
The countertops are made of hard wax oiled oak and are complemented by a stainless steel sink. Simple, classic white backsplash tiles run all the way to the ceiling.
There is room for a spacious dining table by the other window and next to the floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinets.
The non-tiled walls are decorated with the Turgräs wallpaper designed by Hanna Werning for Boråstapeter.
The apartment’s only bedroom is painted in a calming green shade paired with terracotta-colored curtains and a yellow bedspread.
Two original built-in wardrobes offer plenty of storage space.
The hall is decorated in the Pomona wallpaper from Midbec. It features the Norrgavel bag shelf for small items and a hat shelf with coat hooks.
