A Cozy Attic Apartment is a Charming Family Home
On the top floor of an early 20th-century apartment building in Stockholm, we find this beautiful attic apartment with cozy rooms where original details are paired with modern additions. The 95 square meter apartment is currently used as a family home and you can see that the home is lived in and loved as it’s packed with art on the walls, a music collection, and charming children bedrooms.
The three-bedroom apartment was renovated in recent years, adding a light colored color palette paired with light wooden floorboards. The dormer windows and skylights add natural light to the attic space while also offering a nice view over the surrounding rooftops.
The living room is located in the center of the apartemnt with the master bedroom on one side and the hall and other bedrooms on the other. The room is lit thanks to a skylight and a larger dormer window which creates a cozy seating spot.
The walls in the living room are painted in a light green shade, creating a naturally calm atmosphere.
A raised area was created under the sloped ceiling which was then turned into a super cozy lounge spot with an IKEA sofa and loads of cushions and plaids.
The room is decorated with art, built in bookshelves, and a dynamic storage system for records and books by the window. It creates a wonderful personal and lived in atmosphere.
The green shade of the walls also returns in the rug for a harmonious color palette.
The dormer window creates the perfect spot to listen to music.
A slatted glass door in the living room gives access to the master bedroom. The walls in the bedroom are painted in a restful dark blue shade.
The apartment features a cozy and original social kitchen with original wooden floor, serving cupboard, pantry, and cleaning cupboard.
The kitchen cabinets are painted in a dark green shade, which fits the natural color scheme of the apartment.
A large wooden table sits in the center of the room, surrounded by open and closed storage. I can certainly see an entire family gathering around this wooden table.
There are two more bedrooms in the apartment. The first room has light gray walls paired with the original wooden floorboards.
There is a teeny tiny second children’s bedroom next to the living room. The space under the slanted ceiling is just big enough for a bed.
There is plenty of storage space in the hallway with a bench with shoe storage underneath and a shelf with coat hooks.
