Earthy Colors and Midcentury Design in a Stockholm Apartment
On the top floor of a 1950s apartment building in Stockholm lies a stunning, recently renovated apartment with warm interior spaces and original midcentury details, adding historic charm.
The apartment has a floor area of only 67 square meters, but the space is well distributed, with a spacious living room and three bedrooms. Homes in Stockholm are often well-connected to nature, and in this case, the apartment offers views of Solberga Forest.

The apartment was renovated in 2021 when a white-toned pine floor from Dala-Floda was laid in all the rooms. But luckily, 1950s elements such as a brick fireplace and internal doors were also preserved or added.

The spacious living room is the heart of the home. Decorated in a midcentury style, the room features gray-beige lime paint walls paired with a large rug, an IKEA corner sofa, and a midcentury-style armchair from Jotex.

Large windows offer plenty of natural light, which is softened by the bamboo blinds, creating a nice connection between the forest outside and the interiors.

The brick fireplace in the corner is a typical midcentury element that also adds a warm and cozy atmosphere to the room in the evenings.

From the living room, you can access a sunny balcony with views of the forest.

A small corner has been fitted with wooden bookshelves and makes a nice spot for a dining table paired with classic Cesca chairs.

The small kitchen is tastefully designed, featuring beige and dark-wood-veneer cabinets paired with an ivory-white quartz composite worktop and backsplash.

Despite the small size, there is enough storage space with extra-high upper cabinets and floor-to-ceiling cabinets on the other side.

During the renovation, glass-framed double doors in a 1950s style have been fitted in the wall between the kitchen and the small room behind it, allowing light to flow from the windows into the kitchen area.

The largest bedroom features the same beige-gray walls and flooring as the living room. Storage has been fitted along one wall, hidden behind an earthy-colored curtain, adding texture while keeping the room clutter-free and free of bulky furniture. Perfect for a small space.

A larger bedroom has been divided into two smaller rooms, now decorated as an extra sitting room and a bedroom. Glass-framed double doors in 1950s style have been added to allow light to flow through both spaces, and they also enhance the apartment’s midcentury style.

The entry hall is fitted with hooks and storage on either side, paired with a gray laminate flooring.
