Hannes Mauritzson’s Warm Yellow Hygge Apartment in Sweden
If you’re looking for a quintessential ‘hygge’ apartment, look no further than Hannes Mauritzson’s pale yellow apartment in Gothenburg. Hannes and his partner’s Swedish apartment is one of the most popular homes on the internet, and you can see why.
The turn-of-the-century apartment oozes charm with carefully renovated original details such as stucco, tiled stoves, and double doors that are paired with a soft color scheme, art, and cozy textures.
The living room is a light, airy, and extremely cozy space thanks to the inviting color on the wall, called Light Yellow by Auro, the large rug, and colorful cushions and art.
The preserved wooden floorboards add a warm, historic touch to the room.
The tiled stove, stucco, and ceiling rosette in original Art Nouveau style frame the ceiling and add a stylish historical elegance.
Through a pair of wooden doors you enter the spacious bedroom.
The bedroom is a tranquil space with walls decorated in a green wallpaper called ‘Hip Rose’ by Boråstapeter. Just like the living room, the bedroom is adorned with beautiful stucco and a ceiling rosette from the Art Nouveau era, which gives a feeling of space and elegance.
Two large windows facing the street turn the room into a bright space.
Although the kitchen is new, it has a lovely old-house charm thanks to the butter-yellow cabinet doors, pearl rafters, and limestone worktop.
The walls are painted in ‘Sans’ from Jotun.
Hannes is known for his beautiful design aesthetics. I’ve featured his previous apartment a couple of years ago, and a couple of years ago, he bought a red wooden cottage on a Swedish allotment, which he completely transformed into a cozy little home. I shared this cottage on the blog when it was listed for sale; you can see the transformation on Hannes’ Instagram page.
The angled wall with the large window facing the courtyard is turned into a sunny window seat.
Next to the kitchen lies the second bedroom that is turned into a combined dressing room and home office. The walls are painted in a soothing tone of yellow called ‘Soft’ from Jotun.
The study has built-in wardrobes and custom-made doors painted in a muted green called Green Tea from Jotun.
The hallway is painted in Secret Green from Jotun.
This apartment is now listed for sale at Entrance Mäkleri. I can’t wait to see where Hannes is moving next.
