Heckfield Place: A Georgian Estate Transformed Into Luxurious Hotel

Many years ago I made a list of all the country estates I want to visit in the UK, the list was very long!! Obviously most of these properties are no longer used as private homes so they’re now part of the National Trust or they are being converted into things like hotels.

Heckfield Place is one of those estates that has been transformed into a beautiful hotel & spa. Heckfield House stands on an estate that spans 430 acres and includes a spa, restaurants and a home farm for natural produce & fresh flowers.

Interior designer Ben Thompson is responsible for the look of Heckfield Place. He had to create spaces that respected the history of the building, but that also made guests feel at home.

“The challenge was to reinstate that informality within such a grand property, and adapt that hosting spirit to suit modern life.”

The Hearth restaurant (above) is located in an old barn

The sweeping pleasure grounds beloved of the Georgians were first marked out in the 1820s. Now, after year of diligent and expert work, the grounds, walled gardens, terraces and lawns have been restored to their former glory.

Isn’t this just perfect? It makes me so happy so see these old buildings being restored with such respect for the old architecture & history. Maybe one day I can make a trip here, what about you?
