Historic Features and Modern Design in an English Regency Villa
Design studio Neville + Neville has redesigned a mid-19th-century villa in the Castle Hill Conservation Area in Maidenhead, Berkshire into a stunning home using rich colors and warm textures.
During the renovation, the interiors of the Regency-style villa were reimagined, carefully retaining the original proportions and architectural elements while adding modern design elements to make it a 21st-century home.
The four-bedroom house has a total floorplan of 3,000 sq ft and is two stories high. The landscaped garden has a swimming pool and a new garden house used as a home gym.
On either side of the hall are two sitting rooms. The larger room is the main living room featuring fine mouldings and walls painted in ‘Green Smoke’ by Farrow and Ball. A contemporary Arabescato marble chimney piece surrounds a gas wood burner.
The smaller room is designed as a cinema room, with paneled walls painted in rich ‘Studio Green’by Farrow and Ball.
The open-plan kitchen and dining room at the back of the house are almost 30 feet wide and have 11-foot high ceilings. The walls are painted in ‘School House White’ by Farrow and Ball.
The entire space is fitted with oak parquet flooring in a herringbone pattern. The kitchen is made of simple painted bespoke cabinets with brass handles paired with Silestone worktops.
The dining room is located next to the French Crittall-style windows overlooking the garden.
The space also features a separate breakfast area, with reeded plaster walls and a built-in curved banquette upholstered in ochre yellow.
Behind a reeded glass screen from the kitchen you enter the pantry painted in the dark blue Farrow and Ball shade ‘De Nimes’.
The ground floor features a generous utility room painted muted green. The hallway is painted in ‘Purbeck Stone’ and features beautiful architectural elements as well as stunning green and yellow floor tiles.
The master bedroom is fully paneled with a dado rail and has garden views through a large, rounded bay window.
The en suite bathroom has Bert and May patterned tiles lining the floor and dark blue matt subway tiles on the walls. These are paired with antique brass fittings from Lefroy Brooks and Arabescato marble for the shower and the sink.
There are three more double bedrooms in the house and a family bathroom.
The family bathroom has patterned floor tiles by Bert & May with a bateau bathtub set beside the window. The room is decorated with plants which gives it a fresh and lively look.
The landscaped garden is surrounded by mature trees to provide privacy. It has a limestone terrace attached to the house and the path leads to a swimming pool and the garden house that is used as a home gym.
A cedar wood seating deck is positioned to the rear of the home gym.
This beautiful Regency villa in Berkshire is now listed with Inigo for £2,500,000.
