A Light Filled Duplex Apartment in Sweden
Historic elements and modern living come together in this light-filled turn-of-the-century apartment in Stockholm. The duplex apartment is located on the top two floor of a historic building and in recent years it was renovated by an architect into a beautiful light home.
The original elements like stucco and moldings, deep window niches, and a tiled fireplace add character to the home. The newly constructed attic floor features brick walls and exposed wooden beams.
The entire home is painted in a light color scheme which makes the home feels fresh and light.
The kitchen fits nicely into the home’s turn-of-the-century character and yet feels timelessly modern. The bright doors have a simple frame, the fittings are in brass, and a couple of doors are in glass, which gives an open feeling.
The kitchen worktop, island, and backsplash are made of white marble which is timeless and stylish.
The large dining table is placed on a jute rug for a natural look.
Next to the kitchen lies a charming living room where the ochre yellow sofa and tiled fireplace add warmth to the space.
The apartment is very well designed, and storage space has been added behind the unique arched doors under the stairs.
The top floor is home to a second living room, which can also be used as a home office, and two bedrooms. The attic floor is wonderfully light thanks to the large skylights.
The master bedroom is a lovely room with exposed brickwork and wooden beams.
To the right of the bed is a deep built-in wardrobe that is hidden by a curtain.
The bathroom is small but functional with a shower and marble tiles.
