A Light London Apartment with a Yellow Kitchen
On the first floor of a handsome Victorian building in London lies a beautiful, bright one-bedroom apartment with a bright yellow kitchen. The apartment is oriented east to west, meaning the rooms are dual aspect, allowing light to pour in throughout the day.
The apartment was renovated in 2020 using a carefully chosen palette of soft neutrals paired with bright yellow kitchen cabinets. During this renovation, the two-bedroom apartment was turned into a one-bedroom, creating one large bedroom with room for a home office.
The wooden floorboards and neutral-colored walls create a calm base for the home. The rooms are filled with custom bookshelves and plants and the yellow cabinets and art add a vibrant tone to the living space.
The current owner completely renovated the open-plan living space. On the floor lie reclaimed Victorian Baltic pine floorboards from LASSCO that have been washed with white oil to create a pale hue.
The walls in the living room are painted in ‘Slipper Satin’ by Farrow and Ball.
The chimney breast on the right naturally divides the seating area and the kitchen. In the sitting room, bookshelves are fitted on two sides of the room.
A new kitchen by InJoinery has been fitted to the room. The butler sink sits under the window which catches morning light.
The kitchen cabinets are painted in ‘India Yellow’ by Farrow and Ball, paired with a Carrera marble worktop for a classic look.
On the other side of the hall, the current owner removed a partition wall to open two smaller bedrooms into one large space with room for a home office.
On either side of the chimney breast, bespoke birch-faced plywood joinery have been fitted that add plenty of storage and display shelves.
The smaller room that has been attached to this room is now used as a home office and wardrobe.
The apartment is now for sale at The Modern House.
