A Light Yellow Kitchen and Period Features in a 1940s Apartment
This renovated one-bedroom apartment is located on the top floor of a 1940s apartment in the Aspudden area of Stockholm. The apartment has a floor size of only 45 square meters, but thanks to a high ceiling, large windows, and an open and airy layout in the living room and kitchen, it feels much larger.
The apartment was carefully renovated a couple of years ago, preserving original elements such as the herringbone parquet floor, window sills in Kolmårds marble, and built-in wardrobes, while also adding a fresh layer of paint to all rooms and renovating the mid-century style kitchen.

The apartment has a semi-open-plan layout in the living room and kitchen. Large windows, like you often see in midcentury homes, bring in ample natural light and offer views of the treetops outside.

The room features the original herringbone parquet floor, and the walls are painted in a soft beige-yellow shade called “Sans” by Jotun.

The cozy sitting area features a light sofa with colorful cushions, and the walls are decorated with art and bookshelves.

The dining area in front of the window connects the living area with the kitchen. A jute rug defines the area for the round wooden dining table, surrounded by vintage mid-century chairs.

The kitchen was renovated a couple of years ago. The kitchen cabinets and drawers from Järfälla Kök are painted in a beige-yellow hue and feature midcentury-style fittings.

The cabinets are paired with a gray stone composite countertop and modern built-in appliances. The upper cabinets feature oak open niches, which give the kitchen a lively look.

The walls are painted in light beige, and the floor is covered with oak parquet. The kitchen can also be reached from the hall.

The bedroom is a calming space with walls painted in Jotun’s muted blue-green color “Soft Teal” and an oak parquet floor.

The blue shade is paired with terracotta-colored bedding and furniture in natural materials like rattan and cane.

In the corner is a large built-in wardrobe, and the passageway between the bedroom and the living room is also fitted with two built-in closets.

The two built-in wardrobes are on either side of the door.

In the bathroom, the walls are covered with white tiles, and this year the floor has been refreshed with a new surface layer of limestone gray microcement.

The hall features a doormat made of the natural material coconut fiber. The walls are painted in the same beige shade as the living room and kitchen, and the floor is covered in oak parquet that seamlessly flows into the original oak parquet floor in the living room.
