Loft Spaces in a Former School Conversion in Rotterdam
In 2018, an early 20th-century school building in the Dutch city of Rotterdam was transformed into modern homes. This four-story home is one of the houses created in this former school, and the high ceilings, large windows, and loft-style architecture turn this space into an amazing modern family home.
The 179-square-meter home features four bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and living space with high ceilings and access to the communal garden, and a separate TV room in the loft with views of the kitchen below and the garden outside.
The owners of the house shared their story of how they transformed this former school into a family home on their Instagram page Oldschool.Newschool and here, you can also follow their new home project.

The open-plan kitchen, dining space, and living area are wonderful. The high ceiling has exposed wood, and a half-painted pink wall adds a nice color accent.
The entire home has a cast floor which gives the spaces a clean and modern look.
The owners created a nice blend of cold and warm materials. The cast iron floor and steel staircase pair well with wooden cabinets or a velvet sofa.
The first floor is home to a charming sitting room where you can clearly see the wooden ceiling, which adds so much charm to the home.
The glass balustrade helps to create an open feeling.
The master bedroom is a grand space with high ceilings, huge windows, and a freestanding bath for a touch of hotel luxury.
The family bathroom is a big space with a double walk in shower with tiles laid in a herringbone pattern.
The two children’s bedrooms are identical in layout, but one also features a characterful wooden ceiling.
