A Lovely Color Palette in a Midcentury Apartment in Sweden
I’m a big fan of Swedish midcentury apartments, and today, I want to share this wonderful corner apartment from the 1950s. The apartment was recently renovated, updating the kitchen and adding a new color palette to the rooms.
The midcentury atmosphere has been preserved. The living room features a beautiful parquet floor and glass double doors, as well as a large balcony overlooking the greenery outside. Lovely colors have been added to the interiors, from a pink ceiling in the bathroom to a green kitchen and a yellow hallway.
The living area is designed in an L-shape with windows in two directions. There is a sitting area by the balcony doors and a dining area connecting to the kitchen.
Huge windows flood the room with natural light and offer a nice view of the abundance of greenery outside.
The living room is the only room in the house with white walls. These are paired with subtle color accents in the furnishings and decor.
Industrial-style cabinets line one wall where books and art are displayed.
Double glass doors separate the living area from the hallway. They also help to let natural light flow into the hall.
The other corner in the living space is turned into a spacious dining room with a green table and school-style chairs.
A wide doorway gives access to the kitchen.
The kitchen is an all-green affair. The kitchen cabinets, backsplash tiles, and walls are all in a muted green tone. The cabinets are fitted with period-typical, chrome-plated wire handles and topped with worktops with teak strips.
A charming breakfast nook has been created by the window, made from a wooden bench and a small, narrow table.
Next to the dining room lies the master bedroom where the walls are painted pink and the ceiling is green.
The custom-built wardrobes have doors decorated with a William Morris pattern.
The walls in the hallway are wallpapered with a splash wallpaper in white and ochre yellow from Lim & Handtryck. On the floor lie new Carrara marble tiles.
The large round mirror ensures the natural light coming through the glass doors is reflected, making the hall a bright space.
The second bedroom is painted in a muted gray tone and features wardrobes with mirror doors and a desk made from the String shelving system.
Even the bathroom has been given a nice color pop. The ceiling is painted pink and a new pink faucet was also installed.
The hallway is fitted with floor-to-ceiling built-in cabinets painted in a warm yellow shade. The niche for coat and shoe storage is painted in the same color.
