A Monochrome Swedish Villa with High Ceilings
In a quiet Swedish village stands an architect-designed villa with high ceilings, open-plan spaces, and a warm monochrome interior design. The farm-inspired exterior is combined with modern interiors, where black, white, and gray colors are combined with warm rustic materials.
The villa, designed by Heidi Mikalsen at Dreams & Coffee, has a social layout with a large open-plan living room, dining room, and kitchen. Perfect for dinner parties. The private rooms are also beautiful. The main house has one master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a walk-in closet.
The loft space adds extra living space that can also be used as a home office or a second bedroom. Additionally, there is a fully equipped guest house, so guests can also stay the night.
The house is built by Yvette and Anders, who wanted to live in a new house when their children had left the nest. They wanted a social home where they could entertain guests with beautiful views of the Swedish countryside.
With windows in every direction and several patio doors in the living room as well as the bedroom you have a close connection to the outdoors.
The wood burning stove sits strategically in the space so it can be viewed and enjoyed from every area in the large ground floor space.
A beautiful rustic wooden table sits in the center of the ground floor.
The large social kitchen has plenty of work room, seats around the kitchen island, and a window seat for that social connection.
The large black and white kitchen has a total of 45 drawers. The white cabinets are combined with black granite worktops.
A warm accent in the living room comes from the ribbed wooden wall by Wood on Wall.
The spiral staircase is site-built and adapted to the house, where all oak steps are treated in the same shade as the floors.
The grand ensuite bathroom has a floating vanity as well as a double walk-in shower.
Entry to the house is through double industrial-style doors. The hallway has sliding wardrobes from Elfa, which house shoes and clothes.
The guest house is designed in the same style as the main house, with a ribbed wooden accent wall behind the bed and a light color scheme.
