A Natural Color Palette, Period Features, & Grand Rooms in a Swedish Home
This beautiful apartment with period features and spacious rooms lies in an early 20th-century apartment building in one of the most popular areas of Sweden’s second city, Gothenburg.
The apartment is truly amazing and features period elements like high ceilings, stucco, original wooden doors, a fireplace, and large windows creating light-filled spaces. The entire home is decorated in a calming color palette of blues, beige, and pink tones which is paired with subtle natural-boho interiors.
The living room is situated in line with the kitchen, creating a social open space with light flowing in from two directions.
The living room is painted in a muted blue tone, paired with earthy color accents in the decor and furniture. A beautiful tiled fireplace stands in the corner, reminding you of the apartment’s history.
The color palette is very calm and grounded. The layered textiles and large sofa create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Tall mirror doors separate the living room and the master bedroom.
The master bedroom is a wonderful calming space with walls painted in a dark beige shade, making the historic stucco stand out beautifully.
A large triple window floods the room with light, and the wooden floorboards paired with earthy tones create a natural atmosphere.
Next to the living room lies the renovated kitchen that invites you to have long dinner parties.
The kitchen design pairs gray profiled doors with a black countertop, white subway tiles, and wooden floorboards that create a harmonious whole.
The limestone walls are painted in Jotun’s “Dusty Pink”, a warm and cozy color that pairs beautifully with the wooden furniture and gray cabinets.
Fully glazed double doors lead out to the sunny balcony, offering amazing views of the city, thanks to the apartment’s high locations.
A charming coffee corner is created using a simple IKEA rolling cart.
The original built-in pantry sits in the corner of the kitchen.
The second bedroom is a magnificent space thanks to the rounded wall that shows this room used to be the staircase of the apartment building.
The golden hue on the walls and ceiling create a warm atmosphere.
There is a third room that lies in an open layout with the hallway. This room is called an inner hall, a space you often see in old Swedish apartments. The current owners have turned this spacious area into a charming home office.
The room features a vintage folding table as a desk paired with bookshelves. On one side, built-in wardrobes offer plenty of storage, and the door to the right gives access to the bathroom.
The doors of the newer built-in wardrobes are designed in a similar style as the original door in the corner, which also opens into a storage space.
The bathroom was recently renovated, pairing light hexagon floor tiles with natural blue-gray tiles on the walls. A smart niche accommodates the washing machine.
The entry hall has a small niche which is perfect for hanging coats and storing shoes.
And finally, I want to show you the communal hall of the apartment building. Isn’t this amazing? The paneled, walls, the large windows with flowers, the beautiful checkerboard flooring. They really don’t built houses like this anymore, do they?
