Pastel Colors and Contemporary Design in a Late 19th Century Apartment
What a wonderful apartment I have to share with you. This one-bedroom apartment in Stockholm is located in a late 19th century building and perfectly blends period features with a soft and fresh color palette and contemporary interiors.
The turn-of-the-century apartment was tastefully renovated, preserving and enhancing original period features and adding contemporary design to create an old home that is ready for modern-day living.
The entire home is painted in lovely pastel tones, and for the living room, the owners opted for a pink color palette with a very soft beige-pink shade on the walls and a dark color on the ceiling.
A large pastel-colored rug adorns the wooden floorboards and is paired with a modern dotted sofa and a striped ottoman. In the corner of the room stands a beautiful traditional Swedish fireplace.
Walnut Eket cabinets from IKEA are hanging on the wall to serve as music record storage.
Beautiful period doors separate the living room from the kitchen.
The apartment has a spacious kitchen with two large windows with deep niches that are traditional for the time period the house was built.
The walls and ceiling are painted in a soft blue-gray shade, pairing beautifully with the walnut cabinets.
The kitchen cabinets, made of walnut, are paired with a light granite countertop and black fittings.
The pastel and walnut design scheme continues in the bedroom, where the walls, wardrobes, and ceiling are painted in a lovely blue shade. The room features a ribbed walnut headboard and a ribbed walnut feature wall on the other side of the bed.
Two small bedside storage niches have been created inside the built-in wardrobes. The bedroom also gives access to a charming courtyard balcony.
The bathroom is designed with the same materials as the kitchen. Granite ceramic tiles are paired with a ribbed walnut bathroom vanity and black fittings.
The spacious hall has floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobes with brass knobs. The walls and wardrobes are painted in a neutral shade with a very subtle green undertone.
The apartment is listed for sale at Susanne Persson.
