A Romantic Countryside Villa North of Stockholm
In a coastal area north of Stockholm lies this charming yellow villa that was built in the 1930s by stonemason Gustav Karlsson in a ‘national romantic’ style. The villa has only had three owners since its construction, and now it has been put up for sale.
The owners of the charming house have preserved original features like fireplaces, wooden floors, joinery, and windows, adding a nice historical touch to the spaces. The layout has also stayed the same, with a living room, kitchen, and a dining room on the ground floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor.
The living room is a charming space with two large windows, walls painted in a light beige shade, and wood paneling. The ceiling consists of exposed tongue-and-groove paneling.
The doorway has been decorated with a curtain, and in the corner of the room stands an original fireplace with turquoise and gold details and patterns.
Via the hall, you enter the dining room with windows in two directions and the same material palette as the living room. Light blue painted walls are paired with high wood paneling, a tongue-and-groove ceiling, and a light wooden floor.
The villa’s kitchen was renovated in 2021 in a rustic-inspired style, with doors and cabinets painted in a light green shade.
In the corner stands an old-fashioned stove, adding a little historic touch to the kitchen.
The kitchen has been given a fresh and classic look. The light green cabinets are paired with brass knobs and a white-painted floor.
Via a beautiful staircase, you reach the upper hall which is turned into a small second sitting area.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor. This room is painted in a romantic pink shade, paired with white wood paneling, and white-painted floorboards.
Both bedrooms have a built-in storage area under the slanted ceilings.
The second bedroom is decorated in a similar style only with an elegant beige wallpaper instead of painted walls.
The walls are decorated with the Hares in Hiding wallpaper designed by Emma von Brömssen.
