Period Features and Color in a Pretty Georgian House

In a pretty historic village in England stands this beautiful Georgian townhouse showcases many period features, grand rooms, and a bold color palette. The house was originally built in the 17th century, but in the late 18th century, the house was refronted, gaining its traditional Georgian facade you still see to this day.

Many original elements from the 18th century remain on the inside, including ornamental plasterwork, decorated marble fireplace surrounds, and a beautiful stone staircase. The house also comes with a pretty walled garden.

The drawing room is a magnificent space with Regency proportions. The room is painted in a warm and cheerful yellow shade, and it looks even bigger than its actual size thanks to the large mirror in the alcove opposite the window.

The room features a beautiful curved wall with a full-height sash window that can be fully opened so you can enjoy the garden in the summer months.

The kitchen is fairly simple, with white cabinets, green walls, and a stone floor. In the corner stands a traditional AGA stove.

This staircase is (in my opinion) the star of the house. The beautiful cantilevered stone staircase wraps around three of the hall’s walls, which have been painted in a pea-green shade called ‘Saxon Green‘ by Farrow and Ball.

A second sitting room is turned into a charming library room with a fireplace flanked by built-in bookshelves.

The master bedroom has the same layout as the living room on the ground floor. The arched wall is decorated with the ‘Clementine Chintz‘ wallpaper by Sanderson.

The other walls are painted in a soft pink shade that compliments the wallpaper very well. Beautiful arched niches with intricate cornicing flank the marble fireplace.

The en-suite bathroom features the same wallpaper but in a blue scheme instead of pink.
